Kei Ninomiya launched NOIR KEI NINOMIYA in 2012, the youngest designer ever entrusted with a label under the Comme des Garçons umbrella. He joined the house in 2008 as a pattern maker, and Rei Kawakubo soon encouraged him to show under his own name. Working almost exclusively in black, Ninomiya treats colour as a distraction and construction as the point, frequently assembling garments and shoes without conventional sewing.
