Doublet for Women

Doublet builds jokes you can wear, and builds them properly. Masayuki Ino's Tokyo label works trompe l'oeil embroidery, experimental dyeing and intarsia knits into everyday garments, so a plain sweatshirt turns out to be doing something far stranger on closer inspection. The women's edit covers knitwear, jersey, outerwear and accessories. Shop Doublet at MARAIS Australia, part of the women's collection.

A Concept Per Garment

Masayuki Ino founded Doublet in Tokyo and won the LVMH Prize in 2018 on the strength of a simple method: pick one idea, execute it with real technical craft, and let the punchline arrive late. A knit turns out to be embroidered rather than printed, a dye job looks like exhaust staining, a bomber reverses into something entirely different. The humour is deadpan and the making is genuinely difficult.

Knitwear, Jersey and Outerwear

Intarsia knits and graphic sweatshirts are the most recognisable pieces, usually carrying one embedded gimmick that only reads up close. Outerwear runs to souvenir jackets and reversible bombers, and the Doublet women's clothing edit covers the rest of the ready-to-wear. Sizing is often genderless, so the same piece works across the Doublet men's collection too.

Shoes, Bags and Accessories

The same logic applies below the waist and beyond. Doublet shoes carry the label's material experiments onto footwear, Doublet bags take a similarly conceptual approach to carry, and Doublet accessories are where the smaller gags live. Reduced past-season pieces sit in the Doublet sale.

MARAIS carries Doublet in Australia through official distribution. Buy one piece and wear it with plain clothing: the garment is doing enough on its own.

Doublet FAQs

Who designs Doublet?

Masayuki Ino, who founded the label in Tokyo and won the LVMH Prize in 2018. The house is known for conceptual, technically demanding garments that read as ordinary until you look closely.

Is Doublet sizing genderless?

Much of the range is, particularly the knitwear and jersey, which are cut with volume and sold across the men's and women's edits. Check the measurements on each product page rather than assuming a standard women's fit.

How should Doublet pieces be washed?

Carefully. Experimental dyes, embroidery and applied finishes do not survive hot water or a dryer. Wash cold and inside out where the care label allows, or use a specialist cleaner for anything heavily worked.
