POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement as well as the related schedules and notes)
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes
  • Gather and monitor financial data (e.g., sales revenue and liabilities)
  • Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies and errors
  • Assist in forecast cost and revenue, budget preparations and financial trend analysis

Accounts Payable

  • Manage payment to suppliers and tax payments (Tax Returns, BAS, FBT and Payroll Tax)
  • Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, including but not limited to payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balance
  • Preserve and maintaining historical records
  • Proactively liaise with Vendors’ and stakeholders regarding finance-related enquiries and manage payments by scheduling pay runs and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit. 
  • Prepare and produce monthly accounts analysis report 
  • Continue to optimize payment processes

Payroll

  • Collect and verify employee timesheets
  • Enter employee information and payroll data into the system
  • Engage with employees enquires and concerns for payroll related matters
  • Calculate payable hours, commissions, bonuses/incentives, taxes, and deductions
  • Issue statements detailing earnings and deductions
  • Issue payments to employees 
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Maintain and update payroll records including but not limited to annual leaves and LSL
  • Prepare periodic payroll reports

Office Administrative & Others

  • Assist with office administrative tasks, including but not limited to filing, attending to office maintenance, insurance renewal and claims, travel bookings, reordering supplies etc.
  • Attend to ad-hoc financial related tasks as delegated by the Financial Controller.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role. 
  • Retail industry experience is advantageous
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Accounting Software. 
  • In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
  • Solid knowledge of accounting regulations, principles and standards including statutory tax and accounting compliance
  • Excellent math skills with an attention to detail
  • Time-management abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to operate autonomously and a team player
  • Confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary / TAFE: Tertiary qualification in relevant Accounting, Financial or relevant discipline
  • Additional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus

SYSTEMS:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Powerpoint
  • Experience with Xero, Ento, Shopify, Lightspeed or similar accounting, retail and time/roster management software
