The Vision Behind Rick Owens
Rick Owens launched his eponymous label in 1994 in Los Angeles, working out of a small studio on Hollywood Boulevard before international recognition arrived. His first runway collection debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2002, and the following year he relocated his home and atelier to Paris with his partner and collaborator, Michèle Lamy. Honoured by the CFDA with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, Owens has built one of the most singular voices in contemporary fashion, recognised for an aesthetic that fuses gothic influence with brutalist, post-apocalyptic structure.
