SACAI
sacai x WTAPS
Two Japanese Houses, One Hybrid Language
Few partnerships feel as considered as sacai x WTAPS. Founded in 1999 by Chitose Abe, sacai grew from her years as a pattern maker at Comme des Garçons into a house defined by hybrid design — the fusion of garments and fabrics to create something genuinely new, layering contrasting textures for that unmistakable two-in-one silhouette. WTAPS, established in Tokyo in 1996 by Tetsu Nishiyama, draws its language from military dress and workwear, shaped by the Ura-Harajuku movement. Together they speak fluently across tactical utility and refined construction.
Inside the sacai x WTAPS Collaboration
The collection translates WTAPS' wear patterns, jungle shirts and black satin into Abe's nylon twill and spliced layering, reworking the M-51 and MA-1 into pieces that read as utilitarian yet quietly luxurious. Cargo pockets, MIL-inspired embroidery and reconstructed jackets sit alongside unisex hoodies, T-shirts and co-branded caps. Each garment carries the discipline of sacai and the lived-in honesty of military design, making the capsule a study in restraint rather than spectacle.
How to Wear sacai x WTAPS
These are pieces built for layering. A reworked utility jacket anchors denim and tailoring alike, while the unisex hoodies and tees move easily between the everyday and the considered. The edit complements the broader Sacai for Women range, and the season's standout Sacai women's clothing rewards those who appreciate quiet, architectural detailing.
