The House That Kenzo Takada Built

Founded in Paris in 1970 by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada, KENZO began as a small boutique in the Galerie Vivienne, where Takada paired Asian sensibility with European tailoring to introduce a new sense of volume and freedom into fashion. His exuberant prints and the now-iconic embroidered tiger motif, which arrived in the 1980s, established a house language that was joyful, worldly and unmistakably its own. Menswear followed in 1983, and KENZO has remained a fixture of Parisian luxury ever since, joining the LVMH family in 1993.
