MARAIS, MELBOURNE, PRESENTS LOEWE POP-UP WINDOW

LOEWE and MARAIS, the multi-brand designer boutique in Melbourne, Australia, are pleased to launch a new pop up window space for the first time in the city on 4th December 2015. The new LOEWE space will feature the women´s bags and accessories collection by Jonathan Anderson. Since his appointment as creative director, the Spanish luxury house has been moving ahead in a bold new direction connecting past, present and future to define what’s modern now, while winning over new customers.

The MARAIS store has been recently relocated to a two-storey temple on Bourke Street, befitting of the fashion it houses, and the LOEWE window display, will feature the iconic Puzzle bag, which reflects the house’s visual identity, craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to modernity.

A beetle-like glazed metal entry glistens as it welcomes clients into the double storied boutique. Immediately upon entering the space is dominated by an exquisite 6m x 5.5m chandelier created by DCG Design’s Darryl Cowie, featuring an approximate 8,400 graduating translucent to opaque white quartz crystals and weighing a monumental 2 tonnes.

The Puzzle is the first completely new bag designed by Jonathan Anderson for the brand. The bag is extraordinarily soft and foldable till it’s flat, encapsulating untried ideas about form, construction and materiality, all while making a bold statement.

About LOEWE

LOEWE began in 1846 in Madrid as a cooperative of leather artisans and is part of LVMH. In 2014, newly-appointed creative director Jonathan Anderson launched a reconfiguration of the brand, reinterpreting its core values and visual identity for today. His acclaimed ready-to-wear and accessories collections for the house are presented during Men’s and Women’s Fashion Week in Paris. By connecting past and present with cultural awareness and a timely edit of products, Anderson is creating a template for the future.

AMOUR TOUJOURS

MARAIS Australia will unveil its second temple to global fashion this June at 73-77 Bourke Street. Those devoted to luxury designer wear should be prepared for a sophisticated shopping experience unlike anything Australia has seen before.

The new Marais Australia interior has been imagined as a portal into a mythical space by F2 Architecture and BUILT.

This extraordinary centerpiece sits flush with the ceiling and appears to grow through into the first floor. The complementary smoked mirror ceiling and counters are printed with an oversized Quartz crystal pattern and reflect the stone crystal flooring from Australia though processed and honed in Italy. Across both floors Cowie has designed a series of ‘magic mirrors’ that reveal a clearer image of themselves.

On the ground floor, clients will peruse stores within stores featuring the world’s finest fashion houses – seen for the first time within a multi-brand boutique in Australia. The latest Givenchy, CELINE, Balenciaga and Linda Farrow collections will be represented.

A multi-brand shoe and accessory salon will feature Isabel Marant, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Erickson Beamon, MAWI and Bernard Delletrez.

The first floor is discovered via a magnificent spiral marble staircase enrobing the gigantic chandelier or by an Infinity Lift also designed by Cowie. Imported from the USA and inspired by vintage Parisian lifts, it is fully customised by light that mimics shimmering crystal with every movement as quartz outlines appear and dissolve as the lift ascends and descends.

The mythical theme of the boutique continues on the first floor, with a slightly darker twist. The ceiling is draped with chain mail while mannequins mimic knights in shining armour. Even the hallway leading to the multi-brand ready-to-wear area imitates a drawbridge with its stainless steel floor fixtures.

MARAIS’s first floor is home to a self-contained Rick Owens store within a store alongside designs by Alexander McQueen, McQ, Lanvin, Viktor & Rolf, Carven, Gareth Pugh, Marcello Burlon, Jean Paul Gaultier and Helmut Lang. There is also a gift area featuring candles, perfume and small trinkets perfect for the luxury connoisseur who has everything.

Also gracing the first floor are two very special rooms – a luxuriously appointed VIP salon for private fittings and a stunning lingerie area featuring seashell pink marble walls and drawers and seashell pink silk and tulle covered walls. The carefully curated lingerie selection will enthrall and will exclusively stock UK lingerie brand, Atelier Bordelle.

The enigmatic and enchanting new MARAIS Australia concept boutique celebrates design at its’ very finest and promises to alter the way Australians perceive the art of fashion.
